If you’re not here on a mission… here is the nutshell version.

I have had Crohn’s Disease since my senior year of college.  If you don’t know what Crohn’s is, I am so very happy for you.  If you think you know, or would like to know, click here.

To hear my conclusions as to why so many people are getting Crohn’s Disease, click here.

Western Medicine saved me for many years, and then kicked me to the curb.  Read about those battles here.

Eastern Medicine, alternative diets, supplements, herbal concoctions and juices have all been tried.  Read about those ever-so-fun adventures here.

Now, here is where it gets tricky.  Here is where most people have never been.  Here is where NOTHING is working and you are dying.  Here is where people find the Lord.

Or – here is where people like me pay thousands of dollars to drink Ayahuasca and lick poisonous toads in ancient Peruvian Shamanistic rituals because we are genuinely clueless as to what to try next.  We never thought the toads would actually be next on the list.  But then some worms wiggled into view…

And here is where I utilized Helminthic Therapy. This is crazy-person talk for paying $4k to this company to have parasitic worms crawl through my pores and take up residence in my small intestine.  And you wanna know the SUPER crazy part?  I would do it again in a heartbeat if I could afford it.  Read more about my worms here.

I finally waved a white flag in January of 2010 and consented to having my large intestine removed.  I was dying.  A slow, and miserable death.  I now have an iliostomy.  I thought this would be the end of the world.  But I have a life again, and no regrets, other than perhaps not agreeing to the surgery sooner.  If you are a reader facing this decision, please see my other posts and links on the topic here.  And just to save you the searching, yes – I can still look hot naked with a pouch.

It would be a farse not to include these stories.  They are a large part of what has made me who I am.  And they most certainly have contributed to my renewed sense of LIFE and my desire to live it.  To grab it by the balls, actually, and see where it flings me.  There just simply isn’t enough time to do it any other way.

(As I write more posts I will link them to the sentences above.  For now, sorry for any incomplete rabbit holes.)
